Sea trials have been completed in China for a giant liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker vessel, according to officials from Bureau Veritas. This LNG ship is to be named Gas Agility.
The vessel – owned by Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) and will be operated by French energy company Total – is currently under construction at Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard near Shanghai.
The 135.5-m-long bunker vessel is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2020. It is expected to operate in northern Europe and will supply LNG fuel to commercial ships, including Marseille-based shipping company CMA CGM’s nine ultra-large container vessels.
A sister vessel will also be built at Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard; it was ordered in December 2019.
