DPC has taken a look at where the European dredging fleet has been deployed over the past two years. The United Kingdom still takes up the lion’s share of projects in Europe, although its percentage of vessels this year has dropped compared to 2017.
Meanwhile, other western European countries, such as Denmark, France, and the Netherlands, have all increased their share of projects over the past two years. Trailing suction hopper dredgers remain the most common vessel type across Europe, with 491 currently in service and 37 on order. The total number of dredgers in Europe also looks to expand with 56 due for delivery and 10 set to be recycled by 2021.
