The move to develop innovative dredger solutions with a conscious approach that extends the industry’s commitment to protect the marine environment has been gaining momentum more than ever before.

As one of the companies adhering to this, Rotterdam-based Dredge Yard designs and manufactures equipment for dredging and mining solutions. The company is among the leading manufacturers and suppliers of small- to medium-sized dredging equipment and components and strives for environmentally friendly solutions of high efficiency.

It says that its equipment can be used to improve the environment and our standard of living, but at the same time, it should not have a negative impact on living conditions under water and surrounding habitats. This is why it places emphasis on its eco dredger series. Among other advantages, eco dredgers have lower fuel consumption, and thus, release less CO2.

Dredge Yard’s team of engineers handles the designing, engineering, manufacturing, inspecting, and testing of all the dredge equipment with a vision of achieving the lowest cost and lowest environmental impact per cubic metre on the surrounding area.

As part of its portfolio, Dredge Yard supplies a full range of auger dredgers and cutter suction dredgers. An auger dredger features a rotating, horizontal Archimedean screw, which is located at a right angle to the suction pipe and moves along the waterbed. This design efficiently pushes the material to the opening of the suction pipe, with minimal dilution and low spillage.
